We all miss the 90’s T.V shows and cartoons. The toons were exceptionally entertaining, urging every kid to wake up early on a lazy Saturday morning just to watch fun packed episodes of a whimsical nature. I would say it is unanimous that those shows will stay with us forever.
While enjoying your favorites, glued to the T.V, you may even have picked up some incredibly profound lessons. It wasn’t simply mindless fun and silly games, let’s take in to consideration the ever lovable and gullible bright yellow sponge that hails from a place called “Bikini Bottom”, none other than Spongebob SquarePants, whose daily roster mostly includes working at a shabby ol’ fast food joint, The Krusty Krab. This guy, in my opinion is the embodiment of a successful person.
Now, some of you may think that Spongebob is a loser stuck with a minimum wage job of being a fry cook his whole life, but what you don’t realize is that he LOVES that job! He wakes up every morning enthusiastic for what lies ahead, puts on his tidy uniform and joyously skips off to work singing, “I’m ready, I’m ready”. The little guy loves his grumpy colleague and his cheap ass boss. He adores the smell of crabby patties at 4 in the morning, loves that “tissss” sound the patties make when they hit the simmering grill, he is ever so fond of that spatula with which he proudly flips the secret ingredients just an inch away from the ceiling.
He values his customers and their reaction to the food he makes with passion and devotion. He staunchly guards the top secret Krabby patty formula with all his machismo. The fellow wouldn’t give it up for all of king Neptune’s treasure scattered across the seven seas. So, ladies and gentlemen, in light of all the evidence, you can deduce that Spongebob is mighty successful and the absorbent fellow has most certainly got it going on.
Today, sadly, most of us think that success and money are directly proportional. Success these days is measured by the amount of stuff you have, the clothes you wear in public, the car you drive, the house you live in, the schools you go to and of-course, for someone like me, a student, I am all too familiar with the concept that success and even ones “worth” is tied to the grades one gets. Everyone seems to have a warped, misguided idea about what success truly is, and to be honest it is nowhere near as confusing and superficial as it is deemed to be.
To me, Spongebob IS successful, to some he is a bum. But look closely. The whole idea of success is to play upon your strengths, do what you love, love what you do, to be happy and to make others happy too. It’s that simple.
I looked up the word “success” and the following synonyms came up:
The antonyms of “success” were stated as:
And the word is defined as:
So you see, successful people are ALWAYS rich, but not necessarily only in monetary terms.
I rest my case…I now have a ridiculous craving for a krabby patty ._.
